ABOUT THIS PIECE: The Song – Nakba - talks about the how the Palestinians lost their land and Israel was created. The song also talks about the living conditions of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza and the hardships they face due to the Palestinian political infighting and the Israeli occupation.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: This song entitled ‘Nakba’ was written and performed by a new Rap group from Bethlehem called Tornado Lights. The group comprises a group of young teenagers - two boys and one girl that got together to perform rap two years ago.

Annan Odah, 16, is a young Palestinian who comes from a refugee family of refugees forced from their land by the creation of Israel in 1948.

Majad Hamdan, 16, lives in the small village of Al-Khas, near Bethlehem. This village has had much of its land confiscated for the construction of Israel’s illegal separation wall.

Dina Khouri, 16, is the first female rap singer in Bethlehem. The power of her voice soars high above the deafening Israeli oppression that surrounds her hometown of Beit Sahour near Bethlehem.
